So yesterday I decided to make a bunch of beef jerky in my air fryer using some of the superhot peppers that I grow. I picked a fairly generic beef jerky marinade from the Internet that included soy sauce, worchesershire (sp?) Sauce, liquid smoke, brown sugar, and some seasonings. Once I had the marinade tasting pretty good, I threw it in a blender with 2 Carolina reaper peppers and blended until i couldn't see large chunks of pepper anymore. After marinating my thinly sliced eye of round in this mixture for at least 12 hours, it went into the air fryer at 180 for about an hour and 15 min. This is a super quick and satisfying method to make jerky and if you have an air fryer at home I highly recommend it.
So I started this batch with about 3 pounds of steak. After all was dried and everything, I had about 1 pound and 6 ounces of finished jerky. From what the Internet tells me, I am supposed to use curing salts if I want it to last for weeks at room temperature, but as is this will last at least a week in the fridge, and I don't plan on it lasting more than a week.

I'm not against selling some in the future, but I still have to figure out what my total cost is before I'm comfortable putting a price on it. My reaper plant is only just starting to produce nice pods so I will be doing plenty of different experiments with them throughout the year.
