The Epistle to the Hebrews is a letter attributed to the Apostle Paul, although its origin is doubtful, what is known with certainty is that it is a letter intended for Christians converted from Judaism. This epistle begins by affirming the divinity of Christ over all things, showing Jesus as a being superior to all angels, and continuer of the teachings of the prophets of the Old Testament.
It is important to highlight that all the letters of the New Testament were written with a very specific purpose, to eradicate heresies, that is, the teaching of error, of the early Church. Christian theology as it is known today is essentially the product of Paul's letters; and when this epistle was written many alleged teachers of the Christian faith taught that Jesus was a being equal to the angels, and an example of this was the Arianism, a christian heresy founded by a priest called Arius, which denied the divine status of Jesus.
It is important to note that the apostle Paul, without expressly saying so, followed the teachings of the apostle John, who presented Lord Jesus as the new Adam, and the "son of man", that is, as the personification of the perfections of God.
This is how Paul began his letter to the Hebrews, showing Jesus as the second person of the Holy Trinity, as an eternal being and coexisting with God himself:
"In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word" Hebrews 1:1-3.
