In the gospels there are many references to the truth, when Pontius Pilate interrogates Christ; Jesus is the son of man who testifies to the father: "In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me", John 18:37.
The flesh and the spirit are mindsets that are opposed to each other: "The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so." Romans 8:7. When men live according to the desires of the flesh, concealment strategies are produced, that is why the truth is so necessary in the gospels, the truth is a characteristic of the good. Jesus personifies the good, Jesus is "son of man": "I am the way and the truth and the life", John 14:6. The truth is a concordance between the facts and what is presented to us to our judgment. Truth is a concept prior to good, just as falsehood is prior to evil.
The truth is the light of the gospels, the truth is the spiritual light that illuminates the mind: "No one lights a lamp and puts it in a place where it will be hidden, or under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, so that those who come in may see the light.", Luke 11:33. The truth is not hidden but is made visible to all, life needs the perfection of the truth, without the truth we cannot live ethically.
According to the bible, to accept Jesus is to enter the Kingdom of God: "The kingdom of God is in your midst", Luke 17:21. The kingdom of God is in essence the blessed life, that is, the fullness of spiritual goods in man (peace, joy, happiness). When we accept the truth, when we accept Jesus, we have guidance, we have a way and we do not stumble: "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.", John 10:11.
Jesus in the new testament reveals himself, he is the "son of man", the personification of God's perfections, who bears witness to the truth and the wisdom of God.
