Jesus said: "Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them"

Jesus teaches us the parable of the sower in the gospel of Luke and gives us a conclusion, an idea that summarizes his teachings: "Whoever has will be given more; whoever does not have, even what they think they have will be taken from them", Luke 8:18.
There is a similar statement in the Gospel of Saint Matthew, as a conclusion to the parable of the talents: "For whoever has will be given more, and they will have an abundance. Whoever does not have, even what they have will be taken from them.", Matthew 25:29.

Jesus with this statement is explaining to us two things at the same time, first that the gifts are progressive; and second, that on the other hand there are two rewards.
In the parable of the sower luke 8: 5-15, the seed is the word of God and this seed falls on different soils, the soils are the people who receive the word. The word is rejected by some, and accepted by others; each of us receives for this his retribution of blessing (Luke 6:20-23) or curse (Luke 6:24-26). The word of God, in those who accept it and practice it with constancy, is progressive ("Whoever has will be given more"), it bears fruits of life. The constancy is the path to spiritual enlightenment. Those who reject the word of God, that is, practice heresy (teaching of error), receive the works of the flesh, "even what they think they have will be taken from them".
In the Gospel of Saint Matthew, the parable of the talents, a man before leaving on a trip gives money to his servants; each servant receives a different amount of talents, some more, some less.
Upon returning from the trip, the man claims how much money his servants earned, he rewards those who earned the most; and the servant who did not earn money with the talents takes away everything he gave him.
Talents are like spiritual gifts, and these, like interest money, are progressive and bear fruit. Some people receive more "talents", that is, spiritual gifts than others, those who receive more gifts more have to give an account to God.
Depending on how we live the spiritual gifts and how we make them yield, the spiritual gifts bring to fruition other spiritual gifts, we receive blessing or punishment. We choose to live according to the flesh or living according to the spirit.
