The riches of the world are not the riches of God, this is one of the great teachings of Jesus, or in other words: "What people value highly is detestable in God's sight", Luke 16:15
Jesus is telling us that we must choose between the love of God or the love of money: "No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money." Luke 16:13.
All this is what is considered in the bible as the danger of riches. Jesus asks us to leave everything to follow him and enter the Kingdom of God, the gospel of Luke teaches us the dialogue between Jesus and a rich young man who, having many riches, cannot follow Jesus:
"Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"
So Jesus said to him, "Why do you call me good? No one is good but one, that is God. You know the commandments: "Do not commit adultery", "Do not murder", "Do not steal", "Do not bear false witness", "Honor your father and your mother"".
And he said, "All these thing I have kept from my youth". So when Jesus heard these things, He said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me". But when he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he has very rich.
And when Jesus saw he became very sorrowful, he said, "How hard is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!. For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God!." Luke 18:18-25
According to the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, everything we do in this life is a preparation for the next life, this is why reaching beatitude is so important; and this is where a concept appears: progressive constancy, progressive work, the spiritual gifts are way because we grow (progressive mentality): "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or sisters or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to receive many times as much in this age, and in the age to come eternal life" Luke 18:29-30
The kingdom of God is the dominion of mercy, the reign of wisdom, the government of piety between men.
