The teachings of Jesus: "You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people's faces.", Matthew 23:13

Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew as a spiritual leader faces the oppression of religion, normally oppression is understood as the oppression that comes from political or military power, of tyrannies and dictatorships, we could say that this is a hard, formal type of oppression. But Jesus is speaking of a soft oppression, of the oppression that comes from religious organizations. Religious organizations imposed oppression in the time of Jesus through lies and deception.
Religious leaders persecute Jesus and conspire against him, the Kingdom of God is a threat. Jesus denounces oppression in his time: "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to.", Matthew 23:13.

The Kingdom of God opposes all forms of oppression, the kingdom of God involves the rehabilitation of the oppressed through conversion: "So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him: ´If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.", John 8:31-32.
The message of the kingdom of God is in essence a doctrine opposed to oppression because it is a doctrine of spiritual men, because the purpose of spirituality is to achieve the likeness to God, that is, to be wise as God is wise; God is the wisdom itself explains Thomas Aquinas.
The objective of oppression is to provoke error in the oppressed through the teaching of heresy: "Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.", Luke 8:34. Oppression causes hopelessness in the poor and keeps the elites in power, who only seek to accumulate money and wealth.
The oppressors by hiding the science of wisdom from the people close the doors of the kingdom of God. The kingdom of God frees us from ignorance and delusion and makes us true children of God.
