Lost in the madness that was UFC 234 was the West Coast ADCC trials.
17 year old Nicky Ryan cruised through the field and won his trial by submission.
Nicky is the brother of Gordon Ryan, and may end up accomplishing more than Gordan.
In the finals Nicky took the back and face choked Keith Krikorian out inside the body triangle as time was running out. Nicky was ahead on points and had the match anyway. Nicky showed great technique as he did exactly what a lot of beginners fail to do when choking from the back, which was to stay ear to ear and extend his body.
I can't wait to see Nicky Ryan at ADCC.
