Today was a coaching day were I worked with two of our youth competitors who have started training camp for the American Nationals in the Summer. They are a girl who is 9 and a boy who is 11.
We start the roughly one hour session with 15 minutes of strength and conditioning. The first part of this is a three minute pummel and then they move right in to pull ups, push ups, squats, crunches, curls, calf raises, and sled work. This is all done with active rest (the crunches) so it is a rough 15 minutes.
The techniques we worked on were:
- Triangle from Guard
- Armbar from Guard
- Guillotine from Guard
- Kimura from Guard
- and three Half Guard Sweeps
After the hour we do some meditation to end the training day.
We video the work out and the competitors review it at home with their parents.
I also send them competition footage of other youth competitors for them to review.
cool, they kids will figth very good !!
I'm rooting for them.
