Not Fatamorgana, This Oasis City Really Exists in the Middle of the Desert!

Hidden in the middle of the desert with a dry climate, a green oasis town where residential buildings are built around the lagoon. At first glance, the collection of shady palm trees that stood between the cities seemed like a mirage.
But it turns out it's not.

Huacachina is indeed located between the stretch of dry desert in Peru, surrounded by green trees.

Reporting from the Daily Mail, Huacachina is inhabited by 96 people whose livelihood is centered on small-scale businesses involving sand materials.

And, the city is also quite crowded with tourists.

The lagoon in the middle of the oasis is a natural lagoon, not artificial. But according to legend, at that time a hunter found a princess who was taking a shower. The princess fled, leaving the remaining water in the room. The flowing cloak was said to have formed the surrounding desert.

Now, the descendants of the Incas in Huacachina sought income by being guides of tourists who came from afar, then took them to the top of the high desert (which was formed by the wind, of course, not from the robe of the princess) to watch the sun set over a desert expanse it looks golden.

Well, visitors can then go down the desert slope by renting sandboard, or a desert buggy vehicle.

Huacachina itself is only four kilometers away from the city of Ica - a former Spanish colony located on the border of the desert.

So, there is no need to be afraid of running out of drinking water when playing in the desert around the city of Huacachina.

This magical-looking Huacachina is one of the last oasis that still exists in North and South America. At Huacachina, visitors can spend the night in the hotel, enjoying the atmosphere of an old-fashioned shop, while walking around the blue lake in the middle of the oasis.

Huacachina was popular with Peruvian riders in the 1940s. They often visit for bathing in the Huacachina lagoon, whose water is said to cure.

Because many landowners are building wells to access underground water, and evaporation that occurs due to high temperatures, the water level in the lagoon has declined in recent years. To prevent a drastic drop in water, the water is finally pumped into the lagoon lake, from Ica.

The Huacachina area has been declared a Peruvian national cultural heritage site by the National Institute of Culture.

Hopefully Huacachina will remain sustainable, and continue to be a valuable treasure of Peru.
