Continuation of our fairy tale. Part “4” SOS I DON’T need help!
What is another reason...
... why many of us (surely this does not apply to you) might be struggling in their job, career or in life generally? Is it, because people feel deep inside themselves that there is more than society wants them to belief? If so, does this kind of feeling create an ongoing internal conflict? As you might have already figured out by yourself, it can be tough to spot some inner conflicts. As a result, its easier to say, that one does not have certain talents or even a calling. Or one might be thinking, that she or he is just lazy and not intelligent enough. Like, if one would be bright, meaning intelligent, this person would be doing something meaningful in his/her life for sure.
In fact:
there is one thing I can tell you with a 100% certainty. None of the statements above is applicable. Even though, it is very common in our culture using expressions like “dumb”, “lazy”, “not smart”, “bad luck” and so forth. This are nothing else but excuses for giving up or giving in. Imagine if there was not such a thing like a “lazy” person. Instead, this particular individual is simply someone who does not have identified sufficient motives in order to do something (intrinsic motivation).
On the other hand...
...if you talk about yourself (or someone else for that matter) about being lazy. Is it true that you are lazy in each single area of your life? Really?!? You might want to think again… Alternatively, if you consider yourself (and again, or someone else) “dumb”. Do you consider yourself “dumb” in each area of your life?
Our culture has an abundance of sayings which we are used to, to the degree, that we truly belief they are true. Many of them became “global beliefs”. Meaning because most people think so, it has to be the truth. In addition, if you can’t keep up, so to speak, we are being labelled “lazy”, “stupid”, “not good enough” and so forth.
The following sayings might be familiar to you:
“Money doesn’t grow on trees”… “If you really wanted something badly enough, you’d go out and get it”… “Rich people are greedy”… “Successful people are selfish”… “Unemployed people are lazy”… “Only the weak person asks for help”… “If you sabotage yourself, you lack character”…
Human beings tend to be world class at...
...finding excuses why things are not the way they like them to be. In business as well as in their private life. Many of us are world class at beating us up and then running the risk of becoming a victim. Self-sabotage is another way of being tough on ourselves, consciously and in many cases unconsciously.
