If something should happen to your industry are you prepared? Do you have any career insurance?
You have to prepare yourself for change. Everything is changing. What is the world going to look like in three or five years? What will your business look like? What about your position? What about your industry? Will your industry be here in five years? What is safe?
It used to be easy to predict which careers will be in-demand in the future. How about now? Teachers aren't even safe anymore, right? Postal workers? Tellers? What is next? When the next piece of new technology comes will it wipe out your industry?
Are you prepared for possible changes to your industry? You need to be.Technology isn't going away. If you're in a business that can be taken over by a computer, you need to evaluate what you're doing in your career. You need to get some career insurance.
What is career insurance? Career insurance is where you get some alternatives to your current career. In other words, what else could you do for a living if your industry gets wiped out? Is there anything else you can do? Believe me when I say this, some of those traditional careers will not be around in the future. I mean sooner then you think!
I want you to evaluate your future. If you're in an industry that is "hanging on" you need to prepare for the changes that are coming. Do not wait for everything to fall apart and then you are scrambling to find something else. If you wait it will be harder. You will be older. Things in your life will be different. You will have more responsibilities. Everything! The time to get your career insurance is NOW! If you need more schooling, get it. If you need to move to another location, do it.
Whatever it is you need to do to protect yourself, do it. Please prepare yourself for change. It's coming. I hope this helps.
Good luck to you!
