an Irish-born American, whose parents moved to New York State when he was a young child. In the early 1850s he went to San Francisco at the time of the California Gold Rush. In California he became a bare-knuckle boxer and on his return to New York, he challenged and defeated "Yankee Sullivan", who was then recognized as the American boxing champion. He became a professional gambler, owning gambling houses in New York City in the 1850s and 1860s. He became a U.S. Congressman from New York, between 1867–1871, backed by Tammany Hall. However, he later fell out with the Tammany Hall political machine and became Democratic State Senator for New York between 1876 and 1878, running as an anti-Tammany candidate.

• served as Commonwealth's Attorney of Richmond, Virginia 1989-93 and was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates in November 2007.

• he resigned after admitting to having sex with a minor (and again until March 25, 2015, after winning back his own seat upon release from prison).

• When he taught law school in Australia, at the University of Adelaide and the University of Western Sydney in 2003 until he was fired for failing to disclose the fact he had been disbarred.

• a former high school government teacher and wrestling coach.

• Morrissey taught at Bishop O'Connell High School in 2006 for one semester before he was fired

• active member of St. Paul's Catholic Church in Church Hill, Virginia.

According to The Federalist,

We all know about how media on the left and right talk about Donald Trump’s sexual history. And no one can forget that, for weeks leading up to the Alabama Senate race in 2017, all journalists and the pundit class could talk about was how Republican candidate Roy Moore was a pedophile for dating teenagers. They did forensic analysis on yearbooks from the 1970s, and shamed Alabama voters who supported Moore.

Now we have a modern-day romance with a 40-year age difference and another power dynamic between a teenager and her boss to boot. All without a single question raised or Virginia voter shamed by media think pieces.

Of course, we know exactly how these two cases studies would have turned out if Morrissey and Moore swapped the “D” and the “R” near their names. But what really makes this story rich is that Morrissey is simply another politician in a long list of morally objectionable elected officials who currently hold office in the Commonwealth.

But thanks to the new standards set by both Democratic leadership and the media establishment (but I repeat myself), the new state senator candidate will not have to worry for a second about his job security should any additional scandals emerge.

The win comes five years after Morrissey pleaded guilty to having sex with a minor, according to WRIC. In 2014, Morrissey, 56 at the time, pleaded guilty to contributing to the delinquency of a minor after he allegedly had sex with Myrna Warren, his then-17-year-old receptionist. The two allegedly had sex shortly after she started working at the firm.

In April 2018, Morrissey was disbarred from practicing law in Virginia following his alleged misconduct, according to the Richmond Free Press.

Let me point out some interesting points found in the research articles of this connecting piece which will be coming soon, but out of enough steem to post because I work to much on researching.

• Mr. Morrissey’s five children — including two babies with the former Miss Warren — were participants in the ceremony as the couple recited traditional vows. (So other children. . . prior to grooming and impregnating a teen).

• The couple’s path to the altar has had many twists and turns. They met when Miss Warren was 17 and Mr. Morrissey hired her as an intern at his law office. Within a month, the estranged father of the intern, Coleman Pride, along with her sisters, was calling for the arrest and prosecution of Mr. Morrissey for having sex with the underage teen, who was known at the time as Myrna Pride. She dropped her father’s surname and adopted that of her supportive mother, Deidre Warren.

So the mom was heralded and praised over the protective father and siblings. Interesting for a party that promotes getting the father's out of the homes by promising more aide to single moms. Sad.

• Within a year, Mr. Morrissey was facing felony charges, despite assertions by him and the young woman that the charges were trumped up. Given Mr. Morrissey’s status as a state legislator at the time. (Should that have mattered? A pedophile no matter their "Elite" status should be brought to justice. Likely all this afforded him from being a Democrat and part of their "Sick Leadership" was More protection!)

• Facing a long term in prison if convicted, Mr. Morrissey accepted an Alford plea in which he denied guilt but acknowledged there was enough evidence to convict him of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. The misdemeanor, for which he received a sixth-month jail sentence in December 2014, saved his law license.

• The groom resigned his legislative seat, then won a special election to regain the seat to the dismay of General Assembly leaders.

• Able to continue to serve in the House of Delegates while on work release, he became the first member of the legislature to be on the floor of the House and sleeping in the jail for three months. Like others in jail, he only had to serve half the sentence based on good behavior. (No Words. . .).
