Aston Villa reject lucrative offer for Jordan Amavi; they should hold out for eight figures

The 23-year-old left-back is in high-demand this summer, after putting in some stellar displays for the Midlands club last season.

The Frenchman possesses pace in abundance, and has a wicked left-foot, which can be a potent attacking weapon when he bombs forward.

The Sun claim that Villa are holding out for at least £10 million for Amavi, and so they should be. He is still under contract at Villa Park for another three years, and the Midlands outfit should not be bullied into selling him for less than his market value under any circumstance.

The full-back joined Villa from Nice in the summer of 2015, for a fee that could rise to in excess of £9 million, according to Transfer Markt, and he has showcased his talents on a consistent basis since then, despite missing a large chunk of the 2015/16 campaign though injury.

Amavi encapsulates everything that a modern-day full-back should be. He is an accomplished defender, yet he is equally apt at charging forward and contributing to his side's attacking play.

It is little wonder that he is so highly sought-after, but Steve Bruce should encourage the Villa board to dig their heels in. There is certainly no need to sell from a financial aspect, and he could still play a huge part in the Villans' promotion push his season, if he remains at the club.

If they were to receive an offer in excess of eight figures, however, they should then at least consider it, if the money could be used to further strengthen the squad in other areas that are in urgent need of addressing.aston_villa_manager_steve_bruce_369776.jpg
