Odell Beckham Jr. and Johnny Manziel walk on to a boat off the Miami coast. Okay, you get the gist.
But apparently former Texas A&M wide receiver Christian Kirk wants a real up close and personal understanding of this meaning.
In talking to TMZ Sports, the possible first-round pick in next month's NFL Draft opened up about using OBJ and Johnny Football as an outlet to understand what he should avoid at the next level.
"I think just having both those guys, to be able pick their brains and to know what not to do and how to stay out of certain situations -- it's good for me," Kirk told TMZ Sports. "They definitely just say enjoy the process, especially right now."Let's just hope this mentoring process includes only recommendations to avoid the situations that have plagued both Beckham Jr. and Manziel.
Recently put on the trade block by his New York Giants, Beckham Jr. has found himself in the news for all the wrong reasons. That includes a recently released video that depicts OBJ smoking a marijuana cigar on a bed with a girl that seemingly has white powdery substance next to her (more on that here).
Yeah, do with that information what you want.
No stranger to said white powdery substances, Manziel is looking to make a comeback in the NFL after a one-year hiatus. Still suspended by the league for off-field issues, the former Heisman winner just impressed NFL teams during a workout at San Diego's Pro Day last week.
Whether this means Manziel will find his way back in the NFL remains to be seen. But at the very least, he has found a way to overcome the substance abuse issues that plagued his Texas A&M days and in two seasons with the Cleveland Browns.
A fellow former Aggie, some have Kirk as a low first-round prospect heading into the 2018 NFL Draft. Others view him as a Day 2 receiver. Either way, it's telling that he's out here attempting to make sure that the pitfalls of being a professional football player don't impact him.
OBJ comes in at No. 1 on the SNIPdaily Top 100 for Wednesday with Manziel finding himself ranked as the fifth most popular athlete. The hope for teams looking to add Kirk is that his popularity has more to do with on-field excellence than off-field issues.
