Journaling - Reflecting on the Past and Envisioning the Future

Hello and welcome to my blog, friend. It's great to have you here.

Are you into journaling? Do you enjoy writing down your thoughts and expressing your true feelings in words to then read years later?

To me it is incredibly fulfilling to go back 5 or 10 years ago and read the thoughts I was thinking back then. I will look back and remember what it was like during those years, flooding my mind with happy memories.

Writing is my favorite way to express my inmost thoughts and feelings. I get out my pen and journal and go to town for around 15 to 20 minutes in the mornings. In fact, writing these blogs is a type of journaling except in digital format.

Sometimes I will flip back through my journal weekly to find encouragement for the days ahead. A lot of times I write about things I am grateful for.

Right now we are in the season of Thanksgiving. Often times people start to think about different aspects of their lives that they appreciate. If you think about them but also write them down, you can refer back to them even after the holidays are long gone.

This is a photo of one of my journals. I got it as a gift from my wife a couple years back. I like the ones that have sort of a rustic feel to them as if they were crafted in the 1800's.

Usually, when I go on trips like I'm going on this weekend, I will take my journal with me to record my experiences. I could wait until I get home to journal, but I'm getting old and my memories might not be as clear and crisp by then ;)

Do I journal daily? No. Mainly when I feel inspired to write which is once or twice per week.

I write to reflect, but I also write to look forward into the future. I like to imagine and envision what my life will be like 5, 10, and 20 years down the road.

Here is an entry from back in 2016. 9 times out of 10 I start off with something positive to write about. In this particular instance I was reinforcing beliefs about myself.

I will say this...everything that I have strongly desired and have written down in my journal has manifested in my reality. I am a strong believer in the God of the Bible and also in the law of attraction which I could talk about for days.

Journaling is powerful if you enjoy it and you take the time to write consistently. It can be used as a tool to re-live happy memories and also to look forward to the future.

Later in your life when you pass away, your kids and grand kids will be able to read about your life and get to know who you were on a deeper level. Journaling can become a piece of your legacy that you leave behind.

Let me know if you are into journaling or if this post inspired you to begin your journaling journey :)

Never quit and always believe

I think the closest thing to a journal that I have is the blog posts I write, and I am writing all of them on the Steem blockchain first and foremost 😊

Thank you for some more pleasant thoughts @kenmelendez ✌😃

It’s a beautiful thing right, Chris? Much love to you and your family 😊

Yes! 😄

Sending our love to you and your family too @kenmelendez. I enjoy your writings and appreciate your calmness 😊

I've done some journaling, but I'm terribly inconsistent with it. I do, however, agree that going back and reading those entries is beneficial for personal reflection. That being said, I do not enjoy writing those by hand. I much prefer to type and often perhaps that is why I'm inconsistent. I think one of the benefits of the physical journal is that you can lay it out in front of you and it often serves as a reminder that I should pick it up and write. :)

Reflection is important because it allows you to analyze your thoughts and actions to better determine your next steps. Happy Thanksgiving @captainbob hope you get some good turkey and pie 😊
