Elon Musk has been extremely critical of mainstream news outlets the past few years. In a spout of tweets last Wednesday he criticized mainstream outlets for corruption. But he didn't just complain about the corruption. Mr. Musk proposed a possible solution. A journalism rating service. The current problem with centralized but international media companies are massive. When few hands control the outcome of ratings, you see inflation of view counts, likes, scores, and companies even harassing business owners for expensive plans to boost things like yelp.

Many are waking up to see that Journalism is constantly under attack from a wide array of threats. One problem I see with centralized and company controlled databases is they can eventually be corrupted and used to manipulate people. Similar to how Chinese citizens found nothing when searching "tank man" back when google still actually provided service to the country directly. This example shows us how easily systems can get corrupted even if the company involved has a motto called "Don't Be Evil". Steem does bring us a new option. In theory anyone can use the Steem blockchain database to store data in a secure way. This is a good option for someone wanting to rank journalists with an international service.
Using a decentralized, global, transparent platform becomes a very interesting option for journalism. Steem already has their own version of this baked in with reputation as well as users all have a vesting amount tied to how much they invested into the network. Developers could use weighted voting to combat the "fake bot problem" usually done with faceless randomly generated accounts. Still I believe some level of this kind of abuse will happen, but it can become transparent enough to see through and know what had boosted ratings and what did not. Do you think Elon should consider Steem's censor-resistant technology for his newest "world shaping" venture?
I doubt Musk will veer from his subsidized government gravy train of taxpayer money, we're better off without him to be honest. Over $5 Billion in U.S. tax slave money.

It will be interesting to see who is involved in blockchains much further ahead in the future. At least I think it will be.

He does have experience in this side of media with Zip2. Many others in silicon valley are massive fans of bitcoin. Musk has expressed he owns a portion of bitcoin before that was given to him. At least I think their is a chance maybe even if Musk doesn't go that route , probably others will use blockchain to keep track on what was said by who. If not a complete decentralized ranking system.
