Well, a lot would depend on their needed income. I have a house with a mortgage, so my needs would be much greater than someone living in an apartment with a couple roommates to share the expenses.
To be perfectly honest, I posted about it with the first payout. I am a teacher, so replacing my income isn't exactly requiring me to a millionaire. If this thing continues, and if the price of Steem continues to climb. It's at a $1 as of this writing. If one had enough Steem Power, they could Power Down, SOME of their money, and live off the weekly payments for two years while still posting content. No...I haven't put any thought into this at all.
If you're a content creator, the idea of steemit is that your content is rewarded with a proper amount. If you provide a stable amount of (popular) high quality content, then in return you receive a stable amount of reward.
im pretty sure steempower is used to automatically upvote your own posts as well isnt it? that would mean that holding lots of steempower automatically give you pretty solid payouts just for posting your own content with said account. :)
Seemed like the right thing to do. However, once steem is more widely distributed, perhaps it will be reasonable again. I think it's fine to up-vote your own content though....just liked the idea for now.
Indeed. I was thinking also about the trading functions and potential to store productivity. The prospect of going about one's life transacting only in Steem could be closer than we might imagine!

it would be a very unstable source of income UNLESS someone is able to accumulate a large amount of STEEMPOWER. Then, he could live by curating alone.

I stopped up-voting my own posts after abit made this request....
