Horizontal v vertical masticating juicers

With the advent of the vertical slow juicer or upright single auger juicer it is easy to forget about the original horizontal layout single auger juice extractor, despite this being a fantastic style of juicer in it’s own right. If the vertical or VERT juicer has a drawback it is that the pulp is pumped out through a right angle and through a small pulp ejection port. This rather tight exit point can make verticals struggle a little with what we at juiceproducer HQ call “Hardcore health juicing” this simple means putting juices together that are almost totally aimed at boosting health levels rather than for taste! Or colour for that matter!

So we are talking recipes like celery, kale and wheat grass or beetroot, spinach and chard, the real, super powerful health boosting turbo juices that alkalise, cleans and introduce a mountain of plant nutrition into your system! As juicing itself evolves from a niche health practise to a mainstream part of every day life, the awareness of juicing’s health boosting power is becoming accepted!

This is great news for the human species that is for sure, and we can look at juicing regularly as the best preventative health care there is! Nothing can compete with the health boosting power of top quality naturally sourced nutrition flooding your system on a daily basis! If follows then to get the absolute maximum from your juicing you may need different tools to do different jobs.

Most of us start with a centrifugal juicer as they are cheap to buy and easily available, from there the world of cold press juicing is next, these machines are a little more of an investment, in return you get a more robust and efficient juice extractor that can deliver more out of your produce and better quality juice! How cool is that!!

When you go to cold press juicing there are three main types of juicer to consider, the horizontal single auger, the vertical single auger and the twin gears. Lets leave out the twin gear juicers for a moment and compare the horizontal to the vertical.

The vertical slow juicer are great for general purpose juicing they have great big feed tubes and have gravity on their side to make juicing almost hands free!! THE ONE PROBLEM is that they can struggle with high fibre juicing! This is simply down to the small pulp outlet on a vert!

So if you are looking to do hard core health juicing to power yourself up with the natural goodness contained within grasses, leafy greens, cruciferous greens like broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts and kale then look at the simple juicing performance offered by the horizontal single auger juicers. We think it is the reality of using the right tool to do the job!

A list of mega health boosting cruciferous greens is here!

OK keep on juicing out there! It pays off in the short and especially long term! GET JUICED!
