Bible teaching: I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors. Psalm 119:121

In the Book of Deuteronomy the blessings and curses of the law of Moses are set forth depending on whether it is fulfilled or not. And the Psalm 119, which is a song dedicated to praising and studying the law, mentions one of the most important curses, the oppression.
This is why the Psalm expresses the following among its last teachings: "I have done what is righteous and just; do not leave me to my oppressors" Psalm 119:121. With this expression, the song teaches that the path of righteousness is not a path that leads man to his ruin, but quite the opposite, so the phrase in a certain sense is also a reminder to God for his blessings.
There are many teachings in the Bible about how the oppression of Israel occurred. In the times of the aristocracy of the judges, for example, the Israelites often fell into the idolatry of the conquered peoples, and so the Lord handed them over to the oppression of their enemies, but when Israel turned to God they were freed by the judges. This is why the Bible describes those times with these wise words: "Whenever the LORD raised up a judge over Israel, he was with that judge and rescued the people from their enemies throughout the judge's lifetime. For the LORD took pity on his people, who were burdened by oppression and suffering" Judges 2:18.
Israel, for example, also suffered oppression during the time of Rehoboam, the son of Solomon, who did what was evil in the eyes of God, and in this way, God handed Judah over to oppression at the hands of Shishak, the King of Egypt.
With these statements the Bible then makes one idea clear, oppression is ultimately an evil that comes when men give themselves over to foolishness and senselessness, common sense that is united with the practice of the law makes men free. And this curse of the Bible also leaves another precise teaching: God does not want evil for man, but he can allow it to bring a good out of it, as happened when the Israelites were freed from captivity in Babylon, and Cyrus the Great allowed them to rebuild Jerusalem.
