A little bit of Alaska Photo Log 2

in justbecause •  6 years ago

Saturday 9/8/18 Destination unknown, I was the passenger. I was going to do this post yesterday right after my alt account post, well it obviously did not happen. Here is a link to the beginning of the drive, A little bit of Alaska Photo Log 1. This post will take use past Cooper Landing, Alaska, and Tern Lake, heading toward Anchorage.

I left off with photo number 80 of part one just before Cooper Landing, here is one last shot before entering the town.

Even though the speed limit is 35 MPH through the town, I still feel I got lucky on this shot, if you did not read part one I am on full manual for the camera. I think the sign gives a clue.

The view as we pass over the bridge. I did of course have to level the photo some but that was about it.

This was pretty much the biggest cloud and almost the only cloud of the day. As you can likely tell bugs are beginning to own the windshield.

I like my smartphone picture of this lake better from last year, but it is still a really nice pull out, this is just past Tern Lake on the left as you head toward Anchorage.

Jumping way ahead in the drive, and at 65MPH to boot, one of lakes in the summit area just before the eatery, on the extreme left of the picture you can see a little bit of square white, that is a camper on the other side of the lake. There is campground on the other side.

At the next lake pull out we pulled in and got out to take a few pictures, no fast drive by at this one. To me seeing the cow parsnip and the fire weed reminded me a lot of the movie "Fantastic Planet" and the trees the little girl was sitting under. It does not show real well in this photo, but still I thought I would share the why of the photo.

Jumping way ahead in the drive. This is just past the Hope, Alaska turn-off and past the old bridge. It is the semi sort of beginning of the descent, Summit pass is just ahead, and then comes the downward trend to Turnagain Arm. Eight pictures, I think that is the most I have done in one post. Since this is almost the halfway mark of the pictures I think I will end it here.

It was a beautiful day for pictures, a few cumulus clouds in the sky would have been nice, I kind of know how Howard Hughes felt now when he was making his movie. Next part will likely jump over to my alt account, and I may be back Wednesday with the walk. Even though it will have been a walk on Saturday.

I love that you number your photos :) So cool!
Great post, beautiful photos! Never been to Alaska..

It was a kind of long drive, and I wanted to keep them in order of the trip. And I took a lot of pictures.

Wow, these are really beautiful photos @bashadow! I especially love how clear the water is in #144; the reflection in it is lovely!! I always knew Alaska was pretty, but your photos have made it "real" for me ... no more calendar pictures come to mind when I think of Alaska haha

I'm submitting this post to c-squared; hope they stop by and show their appreciation too!

Thank you. Saturday was a great day, I was the passenger so I took a lot of pictures. 55-65 MPH photography on manual setting is difficult at times. Some of them were stop for the pictures though like the lake reflection.
