My Panomania continues - Bings Landing 120 Degree View -

I am sure some of you know I have been practicing my Panoramic photography with my driveway. The first try was a couple of handheld shots. Then I broke out the tripod. Then added more pictures. So we come to today. Yesterday we went out for just a pleasure sort-of-cruise. We visited Bings Landing State Park in Sterling, Alaska. It was cold, but not to bad. I walked down to the river's edge with camera in hand, sans the tripod. (I should have taken it I know). Here is about a 120 degree view of the river. That degree is just a guestimate on my part, it was more than 90 degrees, but I did not bring a protractor or a compass to get the real numbers, guesstimates will just have to surfice.

The Big Picture view is worth it, I think it came out great for being handheld and no subtle differences in the shading/lighting of the images. In total there is four pictures, When I was taking them I was trying to get enough overlap, with out getting to much because I wanted a big wide view to present. I am happy with how it came out.

At the beginning of our day out we were able to stop and get a few more bird shots. The sky in Soldotna and in this area was pretty much a wash, it was solid overcast, with very little definition to it all. We deal with the skies we get. So while not a very nice background it was still sort of nice to see two birds sitting and enjoying a break together on a tree branch. I think it has something to do with that old little diddy way back in elementary school about two love birds, i'll leave the rest of the diddy for you all to think about.

A slightly larger view than just right clicking on the image and open in new tab can be found by opening the Big Picture link in a new tab. I don't understand it, but the top one you can right click and get the bigger picture this one for some reason you can't. Since I can not figure out the rhyme or reason for why that happens I always try to give the Big Picture link under most of my photos.

Now for this mornings shot. It is still pretty much dark when I wake up. I guess that is one of the things about Alaska, in the winter you go to bed when it is dark, and wake up and it is still dark. When I was working I really disliked the day shifts in the winter time. You drive to work with your headlights on and you drive home with your headlights on. If you work inside and get very few breaks you never get to see the sun in the winter time. It is not a pleasant shift to work. So enough of all the drivell your here for the pictures, so here we go....

Thin morning clouds and the moon getting ready to end it's night time jaunt across the evening sky, making way for the sun to soon rise. I guess this could almost be called a "Blue Hour" photo, since there is so much blue in it. I just thought that since I have seen a lot of other people sharing their view of the moon over the course of the last few days that I would share mine also, right out the bedroom window, of course the window screen had to be removed and the window opened, and yes it was cold, so I am glad that at least one out of the five pictures I took was acceptable enough for me to share.

Well I think we will call that a wrap, here is a Christmas Card I made using Lunapic.

Superb bro simply superb, thanks for the views.

Wow! Someone's getting pretty good with the camera :) Love the panoramic view one...very nice! And the eagles, always stunning. Oh yeah, eagle and eagle, sittin' in the tree... :)

Merry Christmas my friend! And all the best for the new year too :)

I am hoping for one day where there is something other than completely washed out sky, or completely blue sky, and that I get one with some an interesting cloud or two in the background.

Funny you just replied, we just had that nice blue sky part, now just waiting on one or two clouds to make it an interesting sky day. It is cold here today. but still got out for a bit.

Patience Grasshopper; it'll happen :)
