Smokey Sky, Panoramic View

No text messing around before the shot, so here it is. 1.7MB so fairly large.

Five images, the first image for the Pano was the center shot, no changes made to any camera settings. The view is from just in front of an empty sign post. An almost 180 degree view looking to the east just before sunset. The large cloud at the end of the road is a smoke cloud from the Swan lake Fire. About 145,000 acres burned now. As I mentioned in yesterdays feathered Friday post no real significant man made structures so in one respect we are fortunate that there is not a lot of burned chemicals in the smoke, so relatively clean forest fire smoke.

I used the Nikon camera software to try and get a consistent look across the images with out messing with the color or exposure controls. The only settings changed, (in ViewNX-i) were all the temperature settings, (white balance) were set to match the center photo, this did a pretty good job of not having some slightly darker frames than the other frames. The only other setting played with was part of "Capture NX-D", was the "Vignette Control", ( a first time use of that function. Then I exported all the images to "Corel Paintshop Pro 2019 Ultimate" to straighten each image, and name them. The Utilizing the Program from BC University "Auto Stitch" all the images together with it. After the stitching it was back to Paintshop Pro for the cropping process.

Of course I can not load a 38.5 MB size file, (well I could but very few would appreciate that especially if they are on a slow connection speed). So into another free program I use a lot, Paint.net. I used it to resize and decrease the quality some so that it would be under 2 MB. The original size was 19,083 X 3217 38.5 MB's. Way way to dang big.

Here is a closer zoomed in Image

For the Pano image I used my wide angle landscape lens.

  • f 5.6
  • 1/800 sec
  • ISO 1000

For the zoomed in shot I used my 55-300 mm zoom lens

  • f 4.5
  • 1/1250 sec
  • ISO 1000

Camera was a Nikon D7500
