The Melt Down Has Begun

It was/is a beautiful sunny and warm looking day this morning, looks can be deceiving. I started outside with out a jacket, that lasted all of maybe 4 minutes, then went and got the jacket. I wanted to show the driveway progress of meltdown, and it looked real nice out, but it is still cold. My fingers were very cold when I got done and came back inside.

I think it was worth it though. Throughout the winter I have been playing with and trying to do better on creating panoramic shots. I used my driveway as the experimentation zone. So here is what our frozen hard as a rock driveway looked like this morning.

No snow in front of the tree and much wider drive area. The Melt Down has begun. I haven't yet shown what the front yard area looks like, a few hints with pictures taken out the slider window and the upstairs window, but here is a bonus second pano to show more of the yard and a slightly different angle of the driveway.

As you can see still a lot of snow on the ground. Along with the snow on the ground there is also still some ice hanging around in the early morning hours. This is the time of year that things, people, and cars kind of go slip sliding away here and there and where they land no one knows.

Frozen tire track, with frozen mud, and later in the day it will just be mud, along with the slipping and sliding part of the year it is also the muddy part of the year. The gravel and dirt roads are somewhat fun to drive right now if you like playing in the mud, but some of the ruts can be quite deep.

All is not lost though there is hope for the future, the winters may come, the snows will fall, the ice will wreak havoc then melt quietly into the land, and the mud will dry, things will become firm and solid again, and hope will spring eternal. From under the mountains of snow come two tiny survivors to one day grow and become giants among their kind, and then at the end of their life perhaps warm the hearth of the generations to come, or provide material for that new baby crib.

Well that pretty much updates what the driveway looks like. For a look back in time Wednesday Walk - 2 days late - A Wintery Driveway view post that was posted on March 1st, showing the driveway snows.

I like the tree popping up in the final photo. A sign of things to come!

And to think it was buried under 10 plus feet of snow compacted by the plow truck and front end loader, pretty strong trees at that stage of life.

That is a lot of snow! Shows us how strong those trees are... the circle of life continues!
