The justice of God: Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy. Proverbs 31:9

In the last part of the Book of Proverbs, there are some sentences referring to the words that a woman addressed to her son, Lemuel, King of Massa.
And being the author of the book of Proverbs King Solomon, it is very likely that this woman was his mother Bathsheba.
Among the advices that this woman left her son, as King of a country, was knowing how to administer the virtue of justice, because without justice there is no peace, and peace is the most important goal that a monarch must seek.
So were the words addressed by his mother to the King:
"Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves,
for the rights of all who are destitute.
Speak up and judge fairly;
defend the rights of the poor and needy" Proverbs 31:8-9.
These wise words have their origin in a teaching of the Book of Leviticus: "Do not pervert justice; do not show partiality to the poor or favoritism to the great, but judge your neighbor fairly" Leviticus 19:15.
This is of the utmost importance, because when justice is lost is when divisions between brothers and war ensue. And a sample of this was when Solomon died and his son Rehoboam took over the kingdom, the inability of King Rehoboam to listen and establish justice between the tribes of Israel brought with it the division between the kingdoms of Judah and Israel.
Although it is clear that not all justice is good, because justice consists of giving and receiving proportionally, justice establishes the minimum requirements for a society to function together. And the justice of kings, if they really seek what is good, must be the exact justice, the justice of God.
And the mother of this ancient king emphasized very important words to her son, a king must avoid, above all things, oppressing those who, due to their defenseless state, cannot defend themselves; because the opposite of monarchy is tyranny, the King seeks beatitude and the common good, but the tyrant only seeks to increase his personal wealth.
What we do for the weakest and the needy is what defines us as persons, that is why the book of wisdom teaches us: "The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern" Proverbs 29:7.
