Big Pharma isn't as invincible as they make themselves out to be

in justice •  7 years ago

Martin Shrekli has finally gotten indicted, he will face justice. Those words are wonderful yet alien to me, because for years the crooks involved in big Pharma have gotten away with so much; artificial price spikes, outdated and old medications being sold, giving out dangerous vaccines like candy and deceptive marketing, bribery, and so much more. But finally, their shield of invulnerability is beginning to crack, if ever so slightly!

If you don't know who Martin Shrekli is, let me introduce you to this piece of filth: he is a young former hedge fund manager best known as the man who bought up the rights to a life saving drug and proceeded to jack up the price from 13.50$ to 750$! This gave him the title of 'pharma bro' and proceeded to get a huge negative reaction here in the United States. His disgusting actions proved to be a catalyst which has promoted the discussion of the abuse big pharma has been involved in... President Trump has himself called them out, and on another wonderful side note has made slight references toward his own skepticism of vaccines! Although recently the conversation has declined and much more progress has to be made! Though this is a step in the right direct and it is really wonderful that atleast some people who do bad things will eventually face justice!

So I ask you, who else would you want to see get indicted for their own nefarious actions?

Great post, thanks for share.

My opinion for what it's worth:

I think that you should not blame the guy who appears in the newspapers. In the end he most likely was adviced by many others and it seems very unlikely to me that this whole thing was his idea in the first place?
Where did he get the money from? All from his own banking business? Hard for me to believe...

What is to blame (again just an opinion), is the system that allows these things to happen... Hopefully that same system is changing and will prevent these things to happen in the future.

only time will tell us...

Big Pharma companies pretty much own all of the politicians in Washington. They get away with pretty much anything they want.
