So still a few questions about it. Right now it cost you 3 steem to create it yourself, all other places seem to be like I said earlier charging a lot more. The 3 steem goes in to the new account, so you don't really pay for it. After I created my second account I delegated myself 50 SP so I could get a little bit of vote power when I vote.
The " possible, in theory" part from smooth is what is worrisome, and the new RC verse SP thing. In the post they talk about the witnesses setting the "fee" to create an account.

I think I did it...using the name Melshadow.The 3 SP is no longer in my Steem balance, but it doesn't show in transaction history as leaving my account. I am totally confused, or just computer ignorant, on how to go to my new account. I wrote down the password. Do I have to logout as Melinda010100? This may have been a bad idea for someone who is tech challenged!

I see you found it. Yeah, you see even for software unaware people it was a pretty easy thing to do. It wont show in your wallet what happened, it will on steemd show that you created the account.

Heck it is your shadow account, you were a shadow gal before I even joined steemit.
A lot of the shadow names were taken, I had to go through several tries before I decided on mask. I should have went for shadowtime, but it was a toss up. maybe next time who knows.Maybe shadowplay, I should have played with more names when picking, I could have been a shadowplay. I could not be a shadowman though as that one was taken, so no shadowman to watch the shadowtime, as he did his shadowplay.
Nah, I really don't mind at all, said the shady shifty shadow on the wall. Joke.
