Glistening Sunset

Sunsets can be some of the most beautiful and colorful pictures taken, When you add in water it just makes it so much more a what is above so shall be below type view. Here is what I think was a nice shot of a sunset at Cohoe Beach in Alaska.

The mountain in the distance is Redoubt Volcano, It is active and only about 60 miles away. I have gotten to where I enjoy having a little something at the front of the picture, and I think the grasses add to the over-all feel to the image. Image was rotated slightly to level the water edge, and cropped a little bit. There are a lot of water pictures that look crooked, take a few minutes to rotate the image to level the water, it will make for a nicer shot.

Tranquil Fishing - Tern Lake

It is hard to miss the Tern Lake Pullout, a low lake that the water birds love, there are almost always a couple of swans in the lake during swan season. What is often overlooked though is the Tern Lake Campground, and it does not get very busy even at the height of the season. Tern lake is located a tri-junction, or Y if you prefer. You can go south to Seward, west south west to Soldotna, Kenai, and Homer, or north north east to Anchorage. There is not much around Tern Lake to see or do other than to enjoy Nature. And there is nothing wrong with that at all.

There is a small one lane bridge over the lake outlet creek, some very beautiful pictures can be taken from it, just remember it is a vehicle bridge and the only way in or out of the camp/picnic area.

Water and Mountains

One of these days we are going to get lucky and have a nice enough day, and the right conditions to get some nice refection shots at Skilak Lake. So far only one day, and the reflection shots did not come out as well as I hoped they would. I am still a beginner when it comes to photography and on that day I forgot my tripod.

Still it is a beautiful lake, and in the winter you can get some really really long shadows while standing on the frozen surface.

All images were taken by me.

I would like to thank @photomag for providing a place to feature our images on even if we are beginners. I will in the body of the text when appropriate try to relay some of the things I have learned as I progress. Example in this post is where I talked about leveling.
