Kamakura is one place in Japan that you must go to. Kamakura has a very famous Buddha which is only a short walk from the train station. You can actually go inside of it if you pay about 20JPY.
It is full of natural beauty and is a paradise for photographers.
Kamakura is very active and many Tokyoites go there for a day trip to enjoy nature and to get away of all the hustle and bustle of living in Tokyo.
About a five minute walk from the station is another location in Kamakura which is very beautiful but comes in third place in my book. They have a shrine and a small museum if you walk up the stairs. Kamakura is a beautiful quiet place full of a ton of small shops which sell everything from Japanese pickles, to sweet potato ice cream. It is also a great place to go if you love the beach, which is in walking distance from the Kamakura station.
If you decide to go to Kamakura, plan on doing a lot of walking and spending the whole day there. You can’t enjoy Kamakura by just briskly walking through it. Take your time and enjoy as much as you can.
