Sharing the video, Kamath said that he needs to get back to "playing for myself".
On August 15, as India celebrated its 78th Independence Day, Zerodha, the online brokerage and financial services company which started its operations on the same day in 2010, celebrated its 14th anniversary.
On the occasion, CEO Nithin Kamath shared a throwback video from 2018 showing his son Kiaan singing the national anthem while he strummed the guitar. Kamath posted the video on Instagram and X, and the video has gone viral.
The Instagram caption said, “Happy Independence Day. Zerodha also turns 14 today so thank you for all the love.
This is from 2018. 2024 year has been a disaster in terms of health, need to get back to playing for myself.”
Many social media users responded to the video. One Instagram user said, “Never knew one could rap National Anthem so beautifully.” Another user said, “So cute, Kiaan you’re the cutest.”
An X user commented, “Wish you the best of times in the coming year. You continue to inspire millions.”
Kamath, one of the youngest billionaires in the country, is known for his enthusiasm towards fitness. He has made headlines for encouraging Zerodha employees to stay active, and rewards them for doing so.
However, in January this year, Kamath suffered a mild stroke. Weeks later, in February, he shared pictures of him on a hospital bed, saying he does not know the reason behind the stroke, and that it would take another three to six months for him to recover.
“Around 6 weeks ago, I had a mild stroke out of the blue. Dad passing away, poor sleep, exhaustion, dehydration, and overworking out —any of these could be possible reasons,” Kamath has written then in an X post.
