Kangri the hidden queen of Kashmir.

in kangri •  7 years ago

It is truly said by Jahangir that "if there is a paradise on Earth that is Kashmir".
The thing which indicates the value of Kashmir valley which is "kangri" known as the hidden queen of Kashmir. This queen is used in the famous and delighted season that is winter. In this season the atmosphere is full of coldness and the sun goes down and kangri rises up this is called chillai kalan in Kashmir.

The whole valley of Kashmir is wreath in white after continuous snowfall and it is the best source for Kashmiri people's that is kangri. When we go outside from our home's we can't bear this coldness thus we enter in our homes quickly and we surrender before this hidden queen and requesting her for help. The help is to warm us. This kangri fulfill the needs of people by two ways.

  1. When we sold it it gives the value by which we can buy anything for the comfort.
  2. It protects us from coldness.
This kangri is liked by tourists and buying it for decorating their houses. This kangri is made of two materials namely mud and sticks.
It is a portable and moving heater that Kashmiris keep in their pheran and keeps people warm during the season of Winter months.
How we can manufacture the kangri.
We are going to manufacturing the kangri it involves labour and local artisanal craftsmanship especially those who have the skills and having an experience of making the kangri.
Ist of all we are collecting the branches and twigs of trees and shrubs then we can scraped and peeled and go through a process of soaking, after completing this process then goes in drying process, we dry these twigs then we take a bowl shaped earthenware.
This earthenware is covered with those sticks, this is the process by which we can make kangri easily.

Now let's recognize how can we prepare this.
Step 1.
Bring the kangri, charcoal, match stick.
Step 2.
Fill the charcoal in earthenware pot, then fire the charcoal till the heat will be produced.
Step 3.
Then cover the upper most layer with Ash to slow down the neglects of charcoal.

This is the tradition of Kashmir.
