The death of a president who served for 25 years

Islam Karimov, the ex president of Uzbekistan who was in office since 1 September 1991 has died of a brain hemorrhage on September 2, 2016. Marking the end of an era.
One of his many accomplishments was under harsh laws and regulatory agencies he gave extra judicial power to the ministry of internal affairs and national security agency who seeked out and jailed radical Islam extremists and opposition political parties in favor of a Islamic state governance. He opened up the educational prospects of the country so that international schools like the Westminster International University and University of Singapore would also be prevalent in the country in the hopes of increasing the amount of highly qualified and skilled workforce
Uzbekistan at the time of presidential voting in 1991 could have been at the hands of radical extremists who sought out Uzbekistan as a haven for their Islamic caliphate, since Uzbekistan borders Afghanistan the radicals sought to take control of the country and expand their territory.
In 2005 there was an uprising in the city of Andijan in which civilians had taken up arms against the local government, so as to not let radicals have any influence in the country, they were crushed by the countrys military forces and consequently jailed throughout the years.
After keeping peace in Uzbekistan for 25 years, he has passed away and the country is in deep mourning
