K-Boppin’: The Boys are Back in Town

Happy weekend Steemitans!

I've been giving a lot of love to the females of K-Pop so it's time to give our K-Pop boys some love! Because Noona loves her K-Pop boys...

K-Pop boys...teehee 😍

가자!(Let's Start!)

Nirvana - Ravi

Let's start with our latest release: Ravi! To be honest, as much as I love him (I'm a huge VIXX fan) I wasn't able to get into his first solo release, but this 2nd mixtape of his totally rides up my style. I love the way this song starts out with the chimes, French(?) at the beginning and Park Jimin's voice suits this song perfectly. I can't pinpoint the style, modernize 80's French pop? It fits the theme of Nirvana, freedom from the endless cycle of personal reincarnations, with their consequent suffering, as a result of the extinction of individual passion, hatred, and delusion: attained by the Arhat as his goal but postponed by the Bodhisattva. Dictionary.com, as even the music video is set in a place of unknown, where the fields are distorted to another color.

From the lyrics it seems like Ravi has reached a state of Nirvana through self-love/acceptance.

I finally realized, I should love myself
For others to love me too
I don’t expect love from everyone
I just need to love myself as much as myself
Woo I love fuckin’ myself yeah
Woo I love fuckin’ myself yeah

Translated lyrics from pop!gasa

Which is a wonderful message, remember to love yourself among all the unknowns of the world.

Art of Seduction - Heo Young Saeng

I can't believe this was released back in 2013. It actually seems older to me because Heo Young Saeng comes from the boyband SS501 which is a 2nd generation K-pop era. An era when there was basically just two boy bands and people were like team TVXQ or team SS501. There were more boy bands, but it wasn't as populated as we see the K-Pop world now.

This is my favorite song and music video from all his solo releases. It's fun with a signature dance move I can easily follow along with. The styling of this music video still remains on of my favorites up to this day. The desaturated tones of blue and orange was a really unique choice that I don't really see repeated. Dark blues and reds I see often, but blues and oranges are a hard one to do (I'm a designer, so these things really tickle my fancy). This music video really separated him from his SS501 angsty playboy image which he retained in his earlier solo releases.

This song is fun, with just the touch of psychotic and creepy I adore so much. Ah, maybe I like this music video so much because I'm a crazy fangirl too.

Chaser - Infinite

Can you believe this was 2012!? Infinite just made their comeback and it reminded me that I can't get over how great this song is. The dance, this song, the fashion...and maybe I just really like desaturated tones. Also this was back when I watched Simon and Martina's videos and they made me laugh with their "Music Mondays". I can't get "We got the orange juice yeahhh get me excited." sound at the beginning.

Been Through - EXO

Returning to the present for a moment is a song off of EXO's latest release 'Universe' winter album. Been Through sounds like it should be in a movie or a drama. This song resonates strongly with me because there is a light beyond the gray clouds, although I think this song is actually leaning towards getting over a heartache with the little mentions of "You shine brightly on me". Who knows!? Well just me, I don't know.

If I - Seventeen (Hip Hop Unit)

I STAN SEVENTEEN. SO HARD!

Especially the Hip Hop Unit, really gets a Noona fangirling so hard. So hard. How many times am I going to make you read that? Soooooo haarrrddddd.

Mingyu = ❤️
S. Coups = ❤️
Wonwoo = ❤️
Vernon = ❤️

If I if from Seventeen's 4th Mini Album "AL1" where Don't Wanna Cry was their promotional song with all 13 members. Seventeen is a unique group, nicknamed the self-producing idols, they write their own music and they come up with their own choreography. Everything works so well with this song, "If I" that constant wondering if you could have done something else. I love the composition of this song. In part of the song a member will sing softly "If I could, if I could..." as if regretting his past actions, then another member will come in strongly with "I do not do" representing the next emotion of anger or being upset. Then the beat drops and paints a picture in song of how strong the turmoil and the members don't even know what to say, its just them and the emotion.

Ah...Seventeen... They're coming out with another release next week (February 5th) and I don't know how my fragile heart will be able to take it...

Is there a K-Pop boy that has taken your heart too?
In my case..it's like 10 boys...man, my heart sure gets around...
