I have to soon go to play an organ improvisation recital on the small Baroque organ at the St Joseph's church in Kedainiai today. Kedainiai is a medium-sized town with deep historical merchant roots right in the center of Lithuania and this recital will be part of the painting exhibition opening of Aloyzas Stasiulevicius, one of the most important painters of the older generation in our country who also happens to be a lover of organ music. His father was an organist at that town and his daughter for a few years was an organ student of mine (even though she is an artist too).
The organ is very small and only has 13 stops with pedals so it will be quite a challenge for me to create something interesting and keep listener's attention for extended amount of time.
Nevertheless it has an ornate 18th century facade and this will undoubtedly contribute to the beauty of the event.
Wish me luck and stay tuned for the video.
