Justify has won the 2018 Kentucky Derby! Good Magic showed, and Audible placed!

It's "the longest two minutes of the year", and the single most bet upon race in the world! The Kentucky Derby is here again!

As some of you may know, I live in the capital city of Kentucky, just less than an hour away from Churchill Downs in Louisville. Who better to conduct "the official" (or at least, the only) Kentucky Derby Betting Pool for Steemit? The Draw was yesterday, and the race takes place on Saturday! Get in on this action for your chance to win some STEEM & SBD!

I'm putting together a betting pool for the derby this year! You can bet any amount of STEEM or SBD you'd like, on up to three horses, but first, let's take a look at the contenders!

How to place a bet:

To make your bet, send any size transfer of either STEEM or SBD to @thatsweeneyguy for holding and distribtion. Your transfer memo will need to be specific in order to assure the accuracy of bets. 90% of all bets placed will make up this pool. The remaining 10% will raise funds for the the start-up of @thesteemhouse

This list will be updated every time someone places a new bet. Full pot payout will occur at the time this post pays out. I've put a total of 5 of my own SBD on three horses that @crytpomomma and I have chosen.

I will also be adding 90% of the liquid reward for this post to the total pool.

The race starts at 6:50pm EST (10:50pm UTC) on Saturday, May 5^th, and the betting window for this event will end 2 hours prior. (4:50pm EST - 8:50pm UTC)

Pool Distribution:

• 50% will be divided among those who placed a bet on the horse that wins.
• 35% will be divided among those who placed a bet on the horse that places.
• 15% will be divided among those who placed a bet on the horse that shows.

Prizes will be divided according to the size of each Steemian's bet on that horse. To explain that a bit better, let's try a hypothetical;
'Horse A' wins the race, and there were 100 SBD worth of bets on that horse. 1 of those SBD is from your bet, so you would receive 1% of the total prize for that horse. The other 99% of that prize would be shared with others who bet on that horse, depending on how much they bet on that horse. If multiple horses that you bet on win, place, or show, you will win multiple prizes!

I will be attempting to livestream the race via Dlive on the big day!

If that's not possible due to technical or legal hurtles, I will post a video of the race in the winners announcement.

Not sure which horses to choose? That's all part of the fun! Some people choose horses by nothing more than their name. Some choose an appealing jockey's jacket, or a particularly "lucky" post number. Some spend the entire year watching these horses compete in races leading up this most prestigious of equestrian competitions, and are heavily invested in its outcome.

We're just here to have some fun, though, and make a friendly wager, nothing serious. If you don't have extra money to potentially lose, don't gamble your house away...
