Thiruvananthapuram: With weighty downpours going on in pieces of Kerala, water levels in a few dams, including the Mullaperiyar and Idukki, in the state are arriving at their particular stockpiling limits and some even arrived at high alert status on Sunday.
As per figures given by the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA), water in six dams - - of which four are in Idukki - - heavily influenced by KSEB are at high alert levels and in one at orange alarm level.

The dams where water has arrived at high alert levels at 11.00 AM were - - Ponmudi, Kallarkutty, Erattayar and Lower Periyar in Idukki, Kuttiyadi in Kozhikode and Moozhiyar in Pathanamthitta locale of the state.

Water levels in the Mullaperiyar dam, in the mean time, were holding consistent at 135.7 feet starting around 12 PM because of decrease in precipitation nearby throughout the previous few hours and no cautions have been given, an authority from the control room set up in Idukki region said.

The authority expressed that there was a slight expansion in water level at Idukki dam, however nothing to be worried about because of decrease in precipitation there right now.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday gave a yellow caution in nine out of the 14 areas of the state for the afternoon.

On Saturday, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, alluding to climate information, had said weighty downpours would go on for the following five days and advised individuals living in sloping areas to stay cautious.
