A few days here, Ketambe made me fascinated with the natural diversity. The combination of two rivers became one, a very beautiful protected forest area, making a tremendous sense of gratitude for God creation.
Ketambe is a beautiful and natural village. This place become one of a choice for local and foreign tourists for holiday. Natural nature makes the heart and mind peaceful from daily routine. The charm of this tropical rain forest is very touching. I was here to did my final research on my campus in 2015, but until now its charm is still in my memory. My research is in Ketambe Research Station.
Ketambe Research Station (SPK) is one of the oldest research stations in Indonesia were opened in 1971 by a Dutch researcher named Herman D. Rijksen who worked for the University of Wageningen Netherlands and funded by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) Netherlands. SPK is one of the conservation centers in Leuseur Mountain National Park which has an area of 450 ha. SPK areas include primary tropical rain forests that have habitat diversity. The area is located in the valley Alas flanked by Mount Mamas (west), Mount Kemiri (north), and Mount Treasurer (east) and bounded between two rivers Alas River and Ketambe River (Rijksen, 1978).
