The ketogenic diet has become a weight-loss craze across the country.

While some refer to the diet as a trend, a huge majority swear by the high fat, low carbohydrate lifestyle. They have lost fat and transformed their bodies.

A woman with PCOS may experience delayed or longer menstrual periods, acne, undesirable hair growth on the body and face, and an increased risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and inflammation due to the hormonal imbalance (Pathak). Excessive weight gain in the abdomen is also a possibility. Insulin resistance is also a problem for some women. When the body's response to insulin is poor, it becomes difficult for the body to function normally.

PCOS symptoms can be reduced by following a low carbohydrate nutritional pattern, which is why the keto diet is useful to PCOS sufferers. Insulin and inflammatory levels are also reduced, in addition to weight loss. A ketogenic diet has the potential to benefit individuals who adhere to it.
