out of all the sausages I sampled, bratwurst are the most ketogenic ones. Their fat to protein ratio is deliciously high, which allows more room to include additional items. (Like ketchup and sauerkraut, even fried potatoes as long as the net carbs remain under 25g per day)
They also are amongst the most affordable sausages in the markets nearby.
I throw them in the air fryer and cook them until crispy brown on the outside. Since they are so high in fat, they can crisp on the outside while remaining juicy on the inside.
I added mayo, ketchup, mustard, and sauerkraut to the ones here.
Remember to always buy humanely certified meat products when available, and complain to your butcher when they aren’t.
