Today was a hot sunny day, it was one of those days that the earth orbits closer to the sun. I think the sun is an energy sucker the more it gives the more it takes! My energy levels were running low and so i decided to take a stroll to the animal orphanage at Nairobi National Park ( the biggest park in the world inside a city ) to seek peace and quite. The nature has a way of rewarding those that do not destroy it, on this particular it was awesomely cool and refreshing.
We enter inside and are met by a number of apes who are surprisingly brave, guess they've been so used to seeing people and have almost become domesticated. We are not allowed to feed them so as not to become obese, we just take a few photos and move on. There is a sign by the road side that says "warthogs and children have a right of way" it looks funny to us untill we see a vehicle zoom fast past us.. we nod heads and understand what they mean..
The charges are fair, between $15 for citizens and $22 for non citizens to enter the animal orphanage. I have always been a huge fan for the big cats the glean on my face is evident but im hugely distracted by a bird soo beautiful that i almost scream Jesus. We take a few laps, the warthog is chilling playing with soil, the hyena is a bit shy and is hiding inside its small house, a couple of monkeys ever playful, the buffalo is resting chewing cud, the cheetah is soo restless he is walking up down up down relentless he must be very bored in his cage. But my biggest disappointment is the lazy mr and mrs lion we try all tricks know to mankind to wake them but to no avail.
These guys never wake up the whole time we are there!!
The day pays off when we meet Bob, he is amazing and super friendly. He likes to show off his good looks and strength. He gots no hurry, hehe like he's going anywhere! People pass by saying Hi, we wait our turn and i walk by to chat a little. He asks me why we no longer carry bananas for them, i ask him if he has been watching the news! He tells me that hes been busy watching over his territory from his other cousins who wants to dethrone him.. I tell him that things have been thick, the politics of the day have made it hard to make a living and so it was hard to afford bananas..
Bob tells me that he understands and tells me to stay strong! We chat a little more and have a hearty laugh, tell each other goodbye and promise to come back once in a while..
