I have to admit I'm not a spider person and that's not likely to change - not seeing having an exotic tarantula as a pet ever. However, I do respect a spider's place in Nature and avoid killing them.
This tarantula, (also known as a wolf spider), was on display at the St. Louis Zoo; thankfully, with a thick pane of glass separating it from me!
Did you know tarantulas are named after Taranto "Taranto, " a seaport city in southern Italy in the region where the spiders are frequently found? Something to think about next time you think about traveling to Italy.
