Within a week of launching its SIM cards with BSNL, Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali has now launched a new instant messaging App by the name of ‘Kimbho‘. The new messaging app by Patanjali aims to compete with WhatsApp as India’s own messaging platform.
Patanjali’s spokesperson SK Tijarawala tweeted from his handle confirming the launch of the Kimbho messaging app. “Now Bharat will speak”. After launching sim cards, Baba Ramdev has launched a new messaging application called Kimbho. Our own #SwadeshiMessagingplatform. Download it directly from Google Play store,” he tweeted.
Kimbho, in common Sanskrit parley, is a phrase that is used to ask about someone’s well-being. Kimbho can be said to be the Sanskrit equivalent of ‘Hello, how are you’ or What’ up’
Patanjali Communications writes about the app on Google Play Store: “Kimbho is a real-time messaging app. Kimbho empowers Private and Group chats with Free Phone and Video Calling. It has dozens of amazing features to share Text, Audio, Photos, Videos, Stickers, Quickies, Location, GIF, Doodle and more.”
But just being live for few hours the Swadeshi app was taken down from Google Play Store and IOS Store. Not only the app is unavailable in the Google Play Store Search, it is also no longer opening in the Kimbho app. Clicking on the links are now leading to page not found an error.
It is not clear why the Kimbho app (Swadeshi whatsApp ) has disappeared from both Google and IOS play stores, whether it was deleted by Google/Apple from their respective stores or if it was taken down by Patanjali Communications in case of a critical bug in the app.
