Above are my kindle sales for the last month. I started kindle publishing about a year ago and it's been a journey full of ups, downs and tons of learning.
Many people ask themselves if it's worth it to get started. If you are on the fence about getting started with kindle publishing, you first have to ask yourself, why am I thinking about doing ? Is it to make money or to invoke a human emotion. My reason for starting was a bit of both. I had heard hundreds of people pitching their courses and had even taken a few myself. After contemplating for about a month I started last year this month.
After I completed my first title, I released it and saw no sales for the first week and was immediately discouraged. I didn't give up though, I ended up doing a 5-day free promotion and the book began selling a copy every other day after the free promotion. I was confused, excited and ready to start writing another book. This was my first success online. At this point I had only released a digital copy because I thought, who would actually buy my print book? Shortly after that I decided to release a print version through KDP print and not CreateSpace, I didn't know there was a difference at the time. After I released two more books, I put all of them in print and saw more and more sales pile in. I was so excited so I continued to write. I never outsourced my books as many people suggested if you want to scale this business.
Later on I released a few more titles and my sales continued to slowly rise throughout the year. I would also later find out about how much more sales you can get via print through the actual CreateSpace site as there are more exposure options available through there. I have just published another book through there and Amazon and am waiting to see results. I am excited to see how Createspace will do in terms of sales and more exposure.
If you are on the fence about getting started, I suggest you do. Everyone's experience will vary. You never know what kind of results you may experience. Below are my results for about 1 year. Every month is different, but it is actually a consistent source of income if you consistently put out high quality stuff. Happy Writing !!
Cheers,
Kiril
