The prophet and king Jehoram: You have led the people of Jerusalem and Judah to worship idols. 2 Chronicles 21:13

The Second Book of Chronicles shows by recounting the sins of King Jehoram of Judah what the true task of the prophets is, just as the doctors, the ancient magus or magicians in the Old Testament, are to give science and knowledge, the prophets are to reveal the hidden things of God, and this is what the prophet Elijah did to admonish the King of Judah because of his errors. With Elijah a wise teaching was fulfilled: "Where there is no prophetic vision the people cast off restraint" Proverbs 29:18.
The Northern Kingdom of Israel, due to its "original sin" with King Jeroboam for the construction of the golden calves to worship them, was the Kingdom most affected by the error of idolatry and because of this fact, misfortune broke out in that kingdom, several dynasties succeeded one another and crimes among the ruling class became the common currency. And with the arrival of Ahab, an idolatrous and hard-hearted man, to the kingdom of Israel, things get worse for the kingdom of Judah because its king, Jehoram, married a daughter of Ahab and so the inhabitants of Judah began to imitate the sins of the inhabitants of the kingdom of Israel.
The Kingdom of Israel had marked its destiny for destruction, and Elijah as a spiritual guide warned Jehoram, the king of Judah, to correct his path with a few very simple words: "You have led the people of Jerusalem and Judah to worship idols, just as King Ahab did in Israel. And you have even killed your own brothers, men who were better than you. So now the LORD is about to strike you, your people, your children, your wives, and all that is yours with a heavy blow" 2 Chronicles 21:13-14.
The prophecy of Elijah was faithfully fulfilled, as recounted in the Second Book of Chronicles, only one of Jehoram's sons survived, Ahaziah, and this was because God had made a covenant with David. Jehoram had a terrible death and his burial was in accordance with the life he led: "His people made no funeral fire in his honor, as they had for his predecessors" 2 Chronicles 21:19.
Jehoram did not follow the path of his father Jehoshaphat and reaped what he sowed, righteousness and sin are choices before the reason of every man.
