PMU commander murders a Kurdish man in Kirkuk in a dispute over ownership of a house

On February 8th, 2019, a PMU commander named abu-Zaynab, killed a man and wounded another in a dispute over the ownership of a house in Qadisiya neighborhood in Kirkuk.

On Friday evening, a PMU commander went to a rented house of a Kurdish resident and demanded the tenant to pay him the rent from now on.

But after the tenant informs the house owner, a dispute brews between the owner and the PMU commander.

During the quarrel, the PMU commander and two of his body guards, spray the man and his brothers with bullets, killing one of them and wounding the owner.

The tenant called and said that man came and demanded the rent.

Kareem Hama-Salih, the house owner, says that he had bought the land plot in 2009. And that now the PMU commander wants to take the house from him. And that he has submitted a legal complaint, but the PMU commander has fled.

Kareem Hama-Salih:

I told him “Don’t shoot me, I have children” But he shot me in the foot. I have delayed operating on my broken foot, due to the funeral processions.

He sprayed the street with a Kalashnikov from the roof, and the other two with handguns.

When he sprayed us, my brother was near me, he hit him on the head, and he died instantly.

NRT: Kirkuk police has started investigating the incident and seeks the arrest of the PMU commander.

Kirkuk Police spokesman:

A man named abu-Zaynab, who is said to be a PMU commander, went to a house, claiming it was his originally and was taken from him.

Consequently a quarrel happened between them and they shot at house owner. They killed one and wounded another.

We are trying to identify the killer so that he can be arrested and persecuted.
