[Recipe] My 30 min Salmon Ramen Hack
I grew up eating instant ramen at least once a week (or maybe few more than that), mostly because my parents were always too busy to cook for me, as a result it is indeed something special to my childhood.
Step 1. Prep Ingredients:
[Ramen] 250g (depends on how much you eat!)
[Green Onion] ¼ cup - fine chopped
[Corn] ½ cup
[Baby Bella Mushroom] x3
[Salmon] ½ lb
I bought 3lb from Costco using the delivery app Boxed - feel free to use code [NZEZU] for $10.00 credit.
[egg] x1
here is more!
[Miso]
[Sesame Oil] for the miso based broth
Get real miso if you could! If you can’t buy a pack of instant miso soup pack from the local grocery store – I got mine from the Roche Bros at Downtown Crossing.
Step 2.
Miso In w/ 3 cups of water in a pot!
Add a few drops of sesame oil and set the fire to low - medium.
Step 3.
Season both side of your salmon with light sea salt and rub them gently!
Season only ONE side with brown sugar in order to caramelize salmon – it gives your salmon a delicious/crispy skin.
Step 4.
Olive Oil in a hot pan. Starting with small heat.
I put two slice of ginger in there because they release great flavor in addition to the salmon and they will soak up the extra brown sugar from the seasoning.
Salmon in let it sit on the pan nice and hot for about 1.5 min before you flip it to another side. Let the heat and olive oil do their job caramelizing the fish!
Step 5.
While waiting for your fish to turn golden!
Grab a smaller pot then put your egg in the water.
Let it sit in there with medium heat from the stove.
Step 6.
QUICK! Put your ramen in the boiling water! Depends on the heat, ramen normally taste best after cooking for 120 - 150 seconds.
Step 7.
Now turn your attention back to your salmon and carefully examine the color on both sides. If you want your salmon to be MORE cooked, simply cook longer after your flip.
OTHERWISE, take out your fish and let it sit on a plate. Let it rest!
Step 8.
Add your sliced baby bella and corn into the hot pan.
Mushroom and corn should be finished up with this beautiful brown glaze with amazing aroma released by mushroom! :D
Step 9.
Get your egg out of the pot! Make sure you don’t forget about it! Peal and cut from the middle, then you should see this lovely soft boiled egg splitting into half.
Step 10.
Strain your noodle and place them in a ramen bowl and add your hot miso broth from the stove.
Step 11.
Mushroom, corn, eggs and fish on top of the ramen soup.
Make it pretty. Make it look like an art…
Vila!
There you go [My 30 min Salmon Ramen Hack].
