This is Oscar the bin cat, my sister in law found him in mid December, dumped in an industrial bin in the blistering North Queensland heat and was suffering from severe malnutrition dehydration and a broken leg.
My partner had been bugging me for months, almost on a daily basis to get a pet to which I always firmly said no. After a couple visits to the vet, things looked promising and I caved. We adopted this grotty little fluff ball and affectionately named him Oscar the bin cat.
After a few baths, the smell of bin juice and ibis stench subsided. More visits to the vet and he has been vaccinated, microchipped and wormed. He was finally allowed to leave his crate and he begun exploring the house all by himself! Or so it seemed! Turns out there’s another little kitten living in the mirror!
(Sorry for the dodgy photo, he moves quicker than a Gypsy with an arrest warrant!)
It was finally time to meet his new big brother, my partners 8 year old hilariously pea brained Pomeranian pooch Harley.
They hit it off instantly, Oscar is so full of energy by now. He wrestles with Harley with the intensity that would make a UFC fighter flee! He is either at 100% full throttle or passed out in the deepest slumber I’ve ever seen an animal. Sometimes half hanging out of his litter box. All the while under Harley’s attentive watch.
2 weeks ago it was time for his final vaccinations, little Oscar the bin cat has won the hearts of all the vet staff and has put on over 2 kilos! They can’t believe the transformation of the once skinny little limpy runt into a well fed intensely curious kitten!
Oscar loves to spend his time creating absolute havoc, wrestling with Harley, destroying toys and digging out the contents of his litter tray. He has almost destroyed our bed with his 5am madness and he killed the electric motor in a toy in about 3 minutes flat!
It just goes to show, one mans trash is another mans treasure!
A cat's jaw has only up and down motion; it does not have any lateral, side to side motion, like dogs and humans.
