Introduction

My long time followers will know of KIVA from the ongoing series of posts I’ve made over the past year and a half, and how posting on Steemit has supported and encouraged me to support over $175 in KIVA loans.

My first Steemit post about KIVA from December 2016 , Have you heard of KIVA ? has been followed by many more updates which have motivated me to fund a number KIVA loans and have now supported 8 loans.

I have also created the KIVA lending group, come and join other great Steemians and when you make a KIVA loan you can dedicate it to Team STEEM

I've done $100 in loans with them. So far I've had one default. The other one is still getting paid back. It's not due to be paid back at a specific time, but when it is, I'll look up the Steem group.

I’ve had a couple of defaults as well but I guess that’s part of the process to be expected. It’s sad you lose your capital and it can’t be relent. I’m trying to choose loans with a shorter repayment period now so the money can cycle more quickly and do more good.

That a good idea. I had been choosing loans that would benefit people on an ongoing basis, like buying chickens so they could sell eggs, or buy a cow so they could sell milk, or seeds so they could sell crops and have seeds for the next year. There are probably pluses of both system.

Looking great, Stephen! Team Steem is going strong!

Yes thanks. Slowly getting the word out. I have a new loan to make but I’ve been flat strap with work and end of term kids assignments. I thought I’d already gone to school but I guess that’s one of the perks of parenting teens.
