Last October, I hyped into the protocol KlimaDAO, a rebase token that was to help the climate and the world. I don't doubt that they are actually doing that by removing CO2 from the atmosphere, by supporting deforestation projects, by planting trees, and much more. But, at the same time... it feels terrible to have joined that early, because I bought tokens when the price was $2000, and now you can buy one token for $12. That is just a brutal difference, isn't it?
KlimaDAO isn't the only rebase token to have dropped like this in value, but still, it has behaved terribly! The team is still working and I get notifications on Discord every day from the team doing upgrades, developing, and more, but still, seen from an investor perspective, this is just a nightmare.
And that made me think about all the projects that have whitelists and more right now. It just feels like they are extremely hyped, but I fear that the hype is too big, and with time, it will just create a giant lost for investors. Of course, if you are early and sell at once, then you might escape in a plus, but it is sad to see that many whitelist projects actually just cause happy sellers, while the long-term investors, those who trust the project and hold the tokens, they are ending up as the losers.
In other words, I would be careful with all those whitelist stuff... it might sound juicy at start, but often they end up being the opposite. And if you should make a quick initial investment, make sure to take profit quickly as well!
