Perhaps the most powerful submission technique there is in Jiu-Jitsu is the Triangle Choke. It's no wonder why it is the favorite of so many (me included). It is a great equalizer vs a larger, stronger opponent. When we saw Royce Gracie catch Dan Severn in this move in 1994, even people who knew what Sankaku Jime was were shocked and impressed by this move.
This is a bit of a longer video, but I wanted to focus on not just the mechanics of this technique, but the versatility of it from a wide variety of positions and setups. Far from a comprehensive list of every way to hit the triangle, this video should have something for all levels of practitioner.

Those were nice moves! I am wondering if I can learn something a little about MMA, you know, for self-defense. Who knows when will danger come and it may come in handy. Thank you for the share.
I am also a fan of MMA and it is really intense, you can never know if one player is better than the other until one of them is defeated. Fighters have every chance if they just know how to take it effectively against their opponent. I have already seen underdogs who were able to get it done because of their opponents making some mistakes in the ring or octagon. Cheers mate!

Thanks for watching! BJJ is a good base for any MMA training, along with wrestling. You have to understand the fight on the ground, as well as how to take down and prevent takedowns. Good luck in your training!

hi @knightbjj
I love this kind of martial art of such ancient origins and based not so much on the use of force but on the ability to transform the attack of others to one's own advantage. Unfortunately I never had the opportunity to start this practice. Do you think it is possible to learn even after the age of 40?
congratulations and thanks for sharing with us

Hey there! First, thanks for watching, I hope that my videos can help you in your martial arts journey. As an instructor, I work with people of all ages. From babies that cannot walk, to older people that can barely walk. Jiu jitsu is a great way to get a sense of control over your body. The principles involve more than just the fight. Everything from how to move, how to fall, and how to get back up. You're definitely not too old, and everyone is different and trains at different speeds. Give it a try and be sure to let me know what you think or if you have any more questions :)

well, I'll try! It's a bit difficult for us because we travel a lot and we stop short so it's almost never worth joining a gym. But when I was younger I practiced boxing and tai chi (completely different things) and I liked them very much !!

Hey, @knitghtbjj awesome video appreciate it. There are so many triangles that it could refer to Illuminati ;) Curious when we are looking for a hidden gem :P Keep up the good work brother

Very good video. I never practice any martial art, but I like them a lot. I like what it does to people who engage in those practices. All the knowledge about the human body and psychology, all the discipline, both physical and mental.
My little daughter was practicing Karate, she was getting really good at it, but the sensei left the country and we were already having a hard time getting het to and from the training place.
Your video is very didactic, very easy to follow. I just wonder, against an oponent with similar knowledge or skills, how effective can those triangles be? how easily can they be undone?
Thanks for sharing

Thanks! I hope you find another place for your daughter to train, and maybe even you will try it out :) Triangles are very effective against people who have no training, for mma, and for self-defense. In all reality, in a self-defense situation, you really do not want to be on your back. But if you are taken down and are on your back, you want to know these. Triangles are very diverse and can be hit from so many angles and positions. They are a staple in jiu jitsu.
