Sweater Project #3 - 7 February 2025

All this knitting has been a bit of a slog to be honest and I still have to start the two sleeves. I have for the most part managed to knit more than 5cm a day but the sweater still hasn't grown fast enough for me. The photo above shows you what's left of the third yarn cake. I like how neat it looks. I still have two more yarn cakes so that should be enough for the sleeves and the neckline and most likely for side panels to add more width to the sweater. I tend to miscalculate and forget to add enough 'ease' so things fit but I prefer baggy clothes !

The photo below shows you how it's taking shape :

I really like the colour and the thickness of this yarn. I think that knitting it with 5.5mm knitting needles certainly makes it go a bit faster. I'm hoping to finish the sweater this coming week because I have a lot of other projects in my mind but I prefer to do one thing at a time otherwise it all becomes a bit daunting when trying to progress what I'm doing.

Above you can see the waistband I've knitted for the back using a 2x2 rib and with slightly smaller knitting needles, size 5.0mm.

I found by chance a clear explanation on how to do a 2x2 rib V-neckline so I'm hoping to be making that sort of shape :

I think the tutorial is very clear and is shown at a slow enough speed to see what's going on in the centre to give it a good V shape.

The other option I have is to do the V-neckline using a 1x1 rib and for that I also found a clear tutorial on You Tube that I've watched too :

I find that this tutorial produces a very neat neckline but I'd like to match the 2x2 ribbing I did for the 'waistband' so I'll try and see what it looks like. I may have to go down to size 4.5mm knitting needles so it's not so loose.

I tried it but it never looks good if I knit that way. I keep doing it the old fashioned way (my grandmother's) or crochet. 😁

I'm doing the sleeves at the moment - can't wait to finish 🧶

I stop by again to see the result! Thanks for mentioning me.
